Sussex Tech senior Chaz Gouert receives WDMS scholarship

Senior Charles "Chaz" Gouert of Milton, center, a double major career-technical student at Sussex Technical High School, was awarded a $500 WDMS Entertainment and Promotion scholarship by the Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce. Gouert is studying electronics and computer systems engineering technology at Sussex Tech. WDMS President Chris Malizewski, left, and electronics instructor Anthony Carmen presented the award Feb. 4.

Gouert is a certified electronics technician through Electronics Technicians Association International, as well as an extra class Federal Communications Commission amateur radio operator. He volunteered with the Amateur Radio Emergency Services group in Sussex County.

Gouert graduated last year from the Digital Print Design career-technical program. He earned two PrintED certifications, one in advertising and design, and one in binding and finishing.

Following graduation, Gouert plans to attend the University of Delaware in fall 2014 and study computer engineering.
