Delaware Stars practice with Flyers alumni

March 3, 2014

Philadelphia Flyers alumni Bob “the Hound” Kelly and Todd Fedoruk volunteered a night of their time recently and headed down the ice rink at the Delaware State Fairgrounds in Harrington.

The pair ran an NHL-style practice for the Delaware Stars travel ice hockey program. The Stars are home to players from as far north as Smyrna and as far south as Salisbury, Md., ages 8 to 18.

Twenty players from the Bantam (U-14) team and the Peewee (U-12) teams along with their coaches were the lucky ones who got to participate in the event. The former Flyers ran an hour of skating, stick handling and puck drills. After practice was over, representatives from each team presented Kelly and Fedoruk with a token of their appreciation. They in turn surprised the kids with autographed pucks and hung around posing for pictures and signing everything from hats and pucks to sticks, helmets and skates.
