Cape JROTC cadets take top honors at Sussex Tech drill competition

The Cape Henlopen High School JROTC Drill Team, composed of cadets who excel in marching and ceremony, participated Feb. 22 in the Sixth Annual Sussex Tech Drill Team Competition and competed against drill teams from Dover, Seaford, Woodbridge, Wicomico, and Polytech. This drill competition was a series of intense events that tested cadets' discipline, precision, and teamwork.

The meet began with presenting of the colors by the Sussex Tech Color Guard, followed by Unarmed Platoon Regulation Drill, Armed Platoon Regulation Drill, Platoon Inspection, Color Guard, both Armed and Unarmed Exhibitions; all cadets in attendance participated in Knock Out Drill.

Cape Henlopen cadets took home a trophy from each event. They placed first in the overall competition and the Armed Exhibition; c/ LTC Cody Ross was the last man standing in the Knock Out Drill event.

The cadets who participated in drill are c/MSG Ross Hicks, c/SFC Dominique Tusso, c/SSG Zach Harris, c/SGT Josh Betts, c/SGT Olivia Baratto, c/SGT James Albertella, c/PFC Casea Carrasquillo, c/PFC Nicole Surface, c/PFC Jacob Mayfield, c/PFC David Collard, c/PFC Josh Thompson, and c/PV2 Timothy Wall. Drill was commanded by c/2LT Alex Dominick, drill commander; c/LTC Cody Ross, co-commander; c/2LT Dean Hysock, inspection commander; and c/SSG Alexandra Atsidis, color guard commander.
