March 6, 2014

Dr. Vincent Killeen, a prominent member of the Lewes physician community since 1985, has accepted a three-year appointment to the Board of the Greater Lewes Foundation.

“It is important for the GLF to maintain a close relationship with the city’s medical community,” said GLF Chair Joe Stewart. “We are delighted to have Dr. Killeen join us both in this role and as a highly respected and multitalented member of the greater Lewes community.”

Killeen and his wife Debbie moved from the Washington, D.C. area to Lewes in 1985, following his graduation and residency at the Georgetown University School of Medicine.

In 1988, Killeen opened his own practice, Bayside Health Association, in Lewes, where he serves today as president and CEO. Over the past 28 years, Killeen has served as a leading practitioner and authority in obstetrics and gynecology for thousands of local and regional patients.

An accomplished researcher and author, Killeen has been appointed to numerous medical boards and committees. He is a staff member of Beebe Medical Center, where he served as chair of its department of obstetrics and gynecology from 1986-95.

Killeen, who is fluent in Spanish, enjoys spending time with his wife and three daughters, is an avid women’s lacrosse fan and supporter, and enjoys golf, racquet sports and his hobby of Civil War medicine. The Greater Lewes Foundation has served as the community foundation for the Lewes region since 2000. Its mission is to “maintain and improve the quality of life in the Greater Lewes region.”

The foundation manages charitable funds established by local residents and assists the city with important Lewes-area projects, such as the current Gateway initiative, which is creating a trailhead and site for the new Lewes Public Library.

The foundation’s annual meeting will take place at the Lewes Public Library Saturday, April 12, with Sen. Chris Coons as the keynote speaker.
