Sue J. Langton, 85, of Lewes, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes. She was born Dec. 18, 1928, in Ridley Park, Pa., daughter of the late Samuel and Marion (Thompson) Johnson.
Mrs. Langton was active in her teenage years and early twenties as a model. Her career in modeling came to its peak in 1952 when she became the first ever Miss Delaware and then went on to represent Delaware in the first ever Miss Universe Pageant. In recent years, Mrs. Langton was always invited as an honored guest to the annual Miss Delaware Pageant; where she was a spotlight of the evening. Her legacy as the first Miss Delaware will live on in the annual pageants.
Mrs. Langton was a proud and devoted homemaker, raising her four beautiful children. When her children embarked on their journey to adulthood, she began teaching modeling and later joined Century 21 in Exton, Pa., where she was a real estate agent for many years. In her free time, Mrs. Langton enjoyed many art activities and was a very talented painter. Most of all, she enjoyed music; you could always find her enjoying the music scene in and around Rehoboth Beach especially. Mrs. Langton enjoyed having fun with her family and many close friends, and had a big personality that reflected her love of life. As a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and dear friend, Mrs. Langton will be missed by all who knew her.
