American Legion Post 28 supports Sussex Habitat with $2,431 donation

March 13, 2014

American Legion Post 28 recently raised $2,431 to support the work of Sussex County Habitat for Humanity. The funds came from the raffle of a lawnmower donated by Husqvarna through Baker’s Hardware in Millsboro and were used to help build Habitat’s first Veteran Build home for Mari Ellyn Hellard and her family. Hellard now serves with Habitat as a member of the AmeriCorps program.

At the presentation of the check are (l-r) Helen Skelton of Post 28, Sussex Habitat Executive Director Kevin Gilmore, and Habitat homeowner and AmeriCorps volunteer Mari Ellyn Hellard.
