Basketball heads to The Bob, spring sports slog in the snow

March 6, 2014

This week I will start with high school sports taking top billing! It's great news that the Cape boys' basketball team is making a run to the semifinals of the state tournament! Pretty awesome considering they were definitely not in the top standings to be able to go this far! In the quarterfinals, the Vikings beat last year's state champion Howard, which is pretty cool in itself. The semifinals are set for Thursday, March 4 at the University of Delaware at The Bob Carpenter Center versus St. Georges. Win or lose, the team has risen to the challenge to play their best basketball at tournament time. Go, Cape!

I feel really bad for all of the spring high school sports having this horrible weather to start their season. There won't be any practice held outside until next week with the snow hanging around. Hopefully this weather will break and baseball, softball, lacrosse, track and field, girls' soccer and golf teams will enjoy nice weather for the remainder of the season.

It's a good thing the pre-season games for the Phillies' don't count because it has been tough to watch them lose again and again! Sadly, the offense has been nonexistent in most of the games. And the pitching has also been bad so far. ONE win! Really?! Come on, Phils! I'm counting on much better results once they get the actual season started.

Get ready to fill out your brackets and throw a little fun money to the pools. College basketball's March Madness is only two weeks out!
