Bill Davis, Shore Sign founder

March 7, 2014

Bill Davis, 74, of Lewes went to be with the Lord Friday, Feb. 28, at Beebe Healthcare, Lewes. He was born Aug. 27, 1939, in Hyattsville, Md.

The son of the late Lloyd Walter and Virginia Angeline Davis, he grew up in Hyattsville and proudly served in the U.S. Navy. On March 11,1961, he married Margaret (Margie) Pruitt and resided in Cape St. Clair, Md. They later moved to Grasonville, Md., where they raised three wonderful children. Bill worked for 17 years for Pepsi-Cola until starting his own business, Shore Sign, which he passed on to his sons in 1998, and it is still operating today under the direction of his son Mac. He and Margie moved to Centreville, Md., and opened Margies Deli, serving the area for many years before they retired together in Lewes at their beloved seashore.

Margie went to be with the Lord in 2006, and Bill was often heard to say that he was "just passing the time" here until he got to join her there. He loved to go to yard sales, and he had an impressive collection of clocks. He loved spending time with his family and his dear friends, Dennis and Kat.

He is survived by his son Ashley Davis (Nancy); his daughter Sloan Stafford (Joe); and his son Mac Davis (Kelly); as well as four granddaughters Aly, Katie, Grace and Emma; and four grandsons, Dillon, Luke, Aaron and Will.

A memorial service will be held at Island Alliance Church, 510 Thompson Creek Road, Stevensville, Md., Saturday, March 15, at 11 a.m.

Arrangements by Parsell Funeral Homes, Lewes.
