Lucky Leprechaun 5K in Milton attracts 300 runners

A festive sea of green with lots of friendship and big hats
March 10, 2014

The Lucky Leprechaun 5K brought out 300 runners March 9, most dressed in green and many wearing big hats.

The long, nasty winter inspired runners to push the envelope of spring as the town filled up for a parade at 2 p.m. to celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day early. Milton Irish Eyes was heartbeat central for the dual celebration.

The leaderboard for the men’s race read Michael Reph 19:03, Mike Sewell 19:14, Lance Skinner 19:23, Bryan Perry 20:03 and Jeff Kilner 20:13.

The women’s top five were Jennifer Boutin 21:53, Elizabeth Skinner 22:38, Mardiny Ung 22:53, Ashley Widdoes 23:08 and Megan Spangler 23:27.

An interesting trend in this race had three runners in the top 10 under 15 years old including Bryan Perry, 14, of Milford, fourth in 20:05; John Ford, 14, of Selbyville, sixth, 21:35; and Ross Moshier, 13, of Lewes, ninth, 22:17.
