March 13, 2014

Even before tickets went on sale for this year’s CAMP Rehoboth Women’s FEST, Thursday to Sunday, April 10-13, calls were coming in. Award-winning singer Chely Wright, sponsored by Jenn Harpel, will be the lead performer at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center Friday night. Karen Williams, noted comedienne and CEO of the HaHa Institute, sponsored by Bell Rock Capital, will be at the Atlantic Sands Hotel on Saturday evening.

Williams will also emcee comedy bingo at the Atlantic Sands Saturday afternoon. There will be entertainment at several Rehoboth night spots on Friday and Saturday: Christine Havrilla and Alia Ady at the Rehoboth Ale House while The Pond hosts Viki Dee and Mama’s Black Sheep.

The weekend kicks off with a welcome party Thursday night at the Atlantic Sands Hotel featuring local talent Viki Dee and DJ Nan. Dancing continues at the Ladies 2000 Tea Dance Saturday evening at the convention center.

Workshops fill Friday and Saturday mornings for FEST pass holders. Several sports events including golf, tennis, pickleball, a bike ride to Cape Henlopen State Park, and beach Olympics, weather permitting, will motivate sports lovers of all ages. Joan Ridolfi will lead a walking tour of Rehoboth.

CAMP Rehoboth will host the Women’s Art/Photography show and wine reception from 3 to 5 p.m., Friday, April 11, at the CAMP Rehoboth Community Center, 39 Baltimore Ave. Also on Friday, Deb Griffin, Paul Cullen, and the Rehoboth Foodie will lead a walking tour, Eating Rehoboth, featuring sights and tastes of the Rehoboth culinary scene. Debby Bloom’s art will be featured at an open house and cocktail party at Gretchen Hanson’s Hobos Restaurant. This tour is also offered on Saturday.

This year, for the first time, the annual arts/crafts/business expo will be open to the public. It’s a free event, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, April 12,  at the convention center. The expo will include artists, craftspeople, leading women authors, and exhibits by local businesses. Visitors can also take home a memory from Fortier Photography.

Also on Saturday at Azura, Alyssa Titus will show customers how to dress for success. In addition, Fay Jacobs will be the host at Proud Bookstore for award-winning authors’ readings and book signings Saturday afternoon. Writers include Claire Snyder-Hall, Salem West and Ann McMan, RE Bradshaw, Paula Martinac, Ellen Hart and Jesse Chandler, and Marianne K. Martin.

The Women's FEST, along with the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition, will hold the Sunday morning Broadwalk on the Boardwalk to fight breast cancer. Show up at 9 a.m. in the CAMP Rehoboth courtyard at 39 Baltimore Ave.

Also on Sunday, Master Chef Gretchen Hanson, owner of Hoboss Restaurant, and mixologist extraordinaire Ginger Breneman, owner of Mixx Restaurant, will be at CAMP Rehoboth for their Wedding Planning and Fashion Show.

FEST Passes, $65, including a ticket for Chely Wright or Karen Williams plus the workshops, dining discounts and perks are now on sale. Last year they sold out early.
