Beebe Healthcare to hold nurse job fair March 27 at main campus in Lewes

March 17, 2014

With a growing and aging population in Delaware’s coastal communities, the demand for inpatient services at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes has allowed for several openings for experienced nurses.

A job fair will take place Thursday, March 27, in the Sunshine Café at the main campus at 424 Savannah Road, Lewes. There will be two sessions, one from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. and another from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., in which nursing applicants will have the opportunity to meet with nurse managers.

The highest need for qualified nurses is in the expanding Progressive Care and Intensive Care units as the numbers of patients continue to increase. Positions also are available for nurses in the Medical Surgical and Orthopaedic units, Surgical Services and the float pool. Casual and per diem positions also are available.

In recent years, Beebe Healthcare has received national recognition for its quality programs and its ongoing efforts to bring evidence-based medicine to southern Delaware. Beebe Healthcare is certified by the Joint Commission as an Advanced Primary Stroke Center, and for its hip and knee replacement surgical programs. Consumer Reports, in its September 2013 issue, reported that Beebe was the safest place in Delaware to have a surgery.

A Consumer Reports survey rated 2,463 U.S. acute-care or critical-access hospitals according to how well Medicare patients 65 years of age and older fared following surgery between 2009 and 2011. The ratings considered how well hospitals avoided adverse events that led either to patients staying longer in the hospital for a procedure than expected, or to patients dying.

Beebe is also a Nurses Improving Care for Healthsystems Elders-designated hospital, which means that a team of nurses have specialized training to care for elderly patients.

Sign-on bonuses for nurses are being offed for full- and part-time positions: $5,000 for ICU opportunities, and $3,000 for specific inpatient units. Detailed job descriptions are available at
