We must stop smoking in private clubs

March 25, 2014

Our state politicians seem to have little concern for our health when it comes to smoking. They need to put a stop to smoking in private clubs. They tell me they can't tell private clubs to stop smoking, but that is not true. When they told bars and restaurants that are private- owned business to stop smoking, they all but told if you want a liquor license, you will stop smoking.

When the non-smoking legislation was enacted, the private clubs should have been included, like some other states near us did. But, they were afraid to do so for fear of losing votes from club members. So, let's do the right thing and protect all the citizens possible in the legislation to stop smoking.
