Tickets are now on sale for Kent County Chapter 850, Vietnam Veterans of America’s Sixth Annual Fried Oyster and Dumpling Dinner at the Felton Fire Hall Friday, April 4. The night also includes live and silent auctions, 50/50 raffle and a raffle for a named brick to be placed at Kent County Memorial Park.

A social hour and auction preview from 6 to 7 p.m. starts the night. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m. Menu includes fried oysters, chicken salad, dumplings, green beans, cole slaw, coffee and iced tea, and a cash bar. A live auction follows dinner.

The annual event benefits the maintenance of Kent County Memorial Park, behind Airbase Carpet Mart at 756 S. Little Creek, Dover. The park, dedicated on Veterans Day 2009, can be seen at www.DelawareVVA.com.

The memorial park includes a Vietnam Veterans Memorial, and a Gold Star Mother and Family Memorial dedicated to all generations of Delaware families. In June it will become the site of a Korean War Memorial. A memorial for those lost in conflicts in the Middle East is also planned.

A UH-1 Huey helicopter, obtained last November, is also being readied for display above the Vietnam Memorial.

Tickets are $30 but must be purchased in advance. “Tickets sell out quickly for this popular social event, so we ask people not to wait until the last minute to buy them,” said Woody Postle, dinner coordinator.

Call Postle at 302-678-2410 or email one9marine@gmail.com for tickets or to donate an item for the auction.
