Sussex Academy students top county schools in Science Olympiad

Students from the Sussex Academy in Georgetown competed March 15 at the state Science Olympiad Tournament at Delaware State University, finishing first in Sussex County and ranked 14th overall out of 52 teams in the state.

The academic team spent months practicing after school to prepare for the competition. The team of 12 students competed in 21 different events, demonstrating their scientific knowledge in various disciplines, including earth science, biology, chemistry, physics, and engineering.

Medals were awarded for the top 10 teams for each event. Cohen Davis and Colden Fees earned a fourth-place medal for Bottle Rockets. Patrick Dopler and Grace Scott won sixth place in Crime Busters, and Madi Rice and Grace Scott earned 10th for Robo Cross. The team also placed in the top 20 in most other events.
