Envision Eye Care to hold grand opening April 1

March 26, 2014

Dr. Katie Miller will be offering premium products and services at her new eye boutique, Envision Eye Care.

Originally from central Michigan, she was born into a family with very poor eyesight. She received her first pair of glasses at age 6. As a teenager, she became very interested in vision and eyewear. She followed her passion and received her doctorate in optometry and a bachelor's degree in applied vision science from Ferris State University. She has also served on several mission trips where she provided eye exams and care, and has spent time working in a veterans hospital.

Miller moved to Delaware about six years ago because being close to the ocean with a small-town feel appealed to her. She has since met her husband and had the privilege of working with several of the area’s most experienced and reputable doctors. The more time she spent here, the more she noticed a need for an eye boutique where patients could get the best care and also have access to upscale products and services.

When it comes to eye care, Miller has a unique approach. She said, “I want to help people understand that the health of our eyes is connected to the overall health of our bodies.” For Miller, this holistic approach to eye care doesn’t stop at vision. “Most of the treatments available for medical conditions like macular degeneration and diabetes just aren’t that effective. I don’t want to simply help symptoms. I want to help people heal their eyes.” She is dedicated to continuing her education to ensure that she can offer her patients the best services and technology available for the health of their eyes.

Because Miller had to start wearing glasses at a young age, she is passionate about helping children feel confident in their glasses. She tells all children and parents that her office is a needle free zone so they can relax and enjoy their visit with her. She is also passionate about eye health awareness in patients over 40. “A lot of eye diseases do not come with symptoms. Through regular dilated eye exams, I am able to find early signs of damage to prevent noticeable symptoms for my patients,” she said. She sees eye exams as a vital part of regular preventive care.

At Envision Eye Care, Miller will be featuring handcrafted eyewear including several elite brands as well as limited-edition and numbered frames. Premium eyewear comes with premium services which includes a two-year warranty and lifetime repairs and adjustments. Miller believes contact lenses are a medical device and are not one-size-fits-all. When her patients are fitting for a new or different contact lens, she asks that they return for a contact lens check after wearing them for one week. There is no charge for this visit. She wants to ensure the lenses are fitting properly and her patients understand how to insert and care for them.

The office’s grand opening will be Tuesday, April 1. There will be more than 400 frames on display from designers such as Marc Jacobs, Kate Spade Glasses, Tom Ford Glasses, Ray Ban and Gucci.
