Stacia Dale Girley, Sussex social worker

God sent his Angels to bring Stacia Virginia Dale Girley back home Tuesday, March 18, 2014. Stacia was born July 11 in Cambridge, Md. to the late Lydia Amanda Dale Madden (March 28, 1985) and the late George Edwards Phillips. Stacia is predeceased by her husband, Howard James Girley (Nov. 9, 1987).

Stacia completed her formal education in the Philadelphia, Pa. school system, graduating at the age of 16. Stacia earned her associates degree from Delaware Technical Community College in 1988 and went on to earn her bachelor of science degree in social work from Delaware State College in 1992. Stacia carried a 4.0 GPA, an accomplishment of which she was very proud.

Throughout her life, Stacia held various positions during her working career. She was an active foster parent from 1967 to 2009. Stacia was an LPN at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford. She was a social worker for First State Community Action Agency in Georgetown and she was also a social worker for Stockley Center in Millsboro. Stacia's last place of employment was with the senior center in Seaford until 2008, ending when she started having issues with her health.

Stacia was an active member of Macedonia AME Church in Seaford for over 40 years, where she served on various committees, serving the longest as an active participant on the usher board. She later became the president of the usher board committee due to her dedication and long time servitude to the church.

Stacia was a fun-loving mother, grandmother and friend who loved and enjoyed being around her family. Her favorite thing to do was to watch any of the Christian stations on TV and online shopping.

Waiting for Stacia in glory is are her parents and husband. Surviving with heavy hearts, but beautiful memories to sustain them are her children: Gayle Girley of Seaford, Carolyn "Kenneth" Isaac of Virginia Beach, Va., and Dale Girley of Seaford; two adopted daughters: Grace Ann Reed of Richmond, Va. and Karen Taylor of Newport News, Va.; her grandchildren: Zachary Perkins, Rhonda Mouring "Eric" Cheairs, Karmesha Campbell, Kristi Isaac, Sahara Hill, Bobby Girley, Rasheida Gibbs, Dale Gibbs, Desmond Gibbs, Renicka Reed and Karen Reed; her great-grandchildren: Justice Moore, Destiny Cromwell, Kaira Campbell, Brandon Gibbs, Tyler Thomas Mouring, Tatyanna Hill, Cameron Gibbs, Donovan Hill, Markeece McCabe, Zaveron Gibbs, Love Powell, Aniyah Cheairs, Jihad Bennett, Trimaine Reed and Ariana Henley; one son-in-law, Kenneth Isaac; one grandson-in-law, Eric Cheairs; along with a host of cousins and friends.

There will be a viewing Friday, March 28 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Macedonia A.M.E. Church 431 N. North St., Seaford. The funeral will be Saturday, March 29 at noon at the churchm where friends may call one hour prior. Arrangements by Bennie Smith Funeral Home.
