Registration is now being taken for two new classes taught by pastel artist and art instructor Nick Serratore at his new facility, The Studios on Walnut, in Milton.

Introduction to Figure Drawing will be held from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, April 26. This two-hour course will teach students the fundamentals of learning how to draw the human figure through quick gesture drawings - “croquis” - and measuring the body using the basic head count measurement.

Students will also learn how to incorporate shapes such as a cylinder, cube, sphere, and cone that will guide them in the drawing process. Class is limited to eight students, and participants must be 18 years and older.

Pastel for Beginners is a six-week course to be held from 10 a.m. to noon, Wednesday mornings, May 7 through June 12. Students will be guided in learning basic pastel techniques that include washes for underpainting and work with different types of pastels and surfaces. All supplies are included, and class is limited to 10 students.

Studios on Walnut is at 310 Walnut St., Milton. For tuition fees and more information on these classes and for upcoming advanced classes and events, contact Serratore at 302-644-9472 or email
