Cape softball drops 7-6 heartbreaker to Woodbridge, bounces back against Lake 11-1

The Cape High softball team dropped a 7-6 home game to Woodbridge April 1, then bounced back to dominate Lake Forest 11-1 in five innings April 2.

In the loss to Woodbridge, the Vikings made six errors while picking up just seven hits. Tiara Duffy led the Vikings, scoring three runs, while Sydney Ostroski delivered a two-RBI double in the seventh inning.

Woodbridge junior pitcher Hailey Andrews struck out 12 Vikings, while Daisjah Williams powered a home run and a double for the Blue Raiders.

In stark contrast, against Lake Forest, the Vikings' bats came alive with seven hits and 11 runs while playing perfect in the field.

Duffy pitched a three-hitter for Cape while striking out six Spartans batters.  She also helped her cause with two hits including a lead-off home run in the fifth inning where the Vikings scored seven runs.
