Sussex Family Y offers free swim lessons during Water Safety Week April 21-25

Space is limited; early registration recommended
April 7, 2014

In a community with ocean, bay, canals and numerous other bodies of water, it is imperative that children have an opportunity to be comfortable and safe in the water. One child drowning is one too many.

Water Safety Week is designed to provide an opportunity for any child, regardless of their financial resources, to have swim lessons. This will be the eighth year to provide this successful community-wide service. To date, there have been 2,700 participants in this important youth development program.

Lessons will be held in the Sussex Family YMCA indoor pool during Cape Henlopen, Indian River and Milford school districts' spring break, April 21-25. Daily half-hour lessons will be taught Monday through Friday. Instructors will be YMCA-trained aquatic staff and volunteers.

Stop by the YMCA on Church Street in Rehoboth to pick up a registration form or call 302-296-9622 to have one mailed. Space is limited, and early registration is recommended.

For more information, call Lydia A. Schmierer at Sussex Family YMCA, 302-296- 9622.
