DE-Feet Breast Cancer 5K slated for May 18

April 29, 2014

Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition has announced the 5th Annual DE-Feet Breast Cancer 5K will be held at Tanger Outlets in Rehoboth Beach Sunday, May 18, starting at 8:30 a.m. The event features a chip-timed 5K Run/Walk and a 1-Mile Fun Walk. There will be pre-event ceremonies, including a special Circle of Hope survivor celebration and music.

Registration is $25 per person before Saturday, May 17, and $30 for day-of registration. All money raised will benefit DBCC’s programs and services to support those touched by breast cancer in Delaware and the surrounding communities.

The event will also feature face painting and a Kid’s Corner. There will be a post-race party under the tent with a food court, and wine and beer garden, and awards will be presented to top finishers in age categories from 9 & under to 70 & older. Team and individual spirit awards will be presented by DBCC for those who have the best theme, raise the most money, and in additional categories. Teams can fundraise by holding car washes, collecting change, and holding bake sales. For more information about teams, go to www.defeetbreastcancerwalk.org. Racers and participants are encouraged to wear pink.

“We are really proud that DE-Feet brings together people of all ages and backgrounds to support ending breast cancer,” said Vicky Cooke, DBCC executive director. “We attract people from across Delaware and beyond - families, children, and adults of all ages. It is comforting to see people coming together to form a team to support or remember someone in their lives who has been touched by breast cancer.”
