Cape soccer outlasts Woodbridge 3-1

The Cape girls' soccer squad used three second-half goals to defeat a scrappy  BlueRaiders team 3-1 at Champions Stadium Tuesday, April 8.

After a tough back-and-forth first half, Maddie Smith started the scoring as she beat her defender and put the ball into the cage at 58 minutes. Cassandra Garcia took a pass from Smith and beat the BlueRaiders goalkeeper at 61:26, and the final tally was delivered from Garcia at 71:30 from a helper by Sydney Smyk.

The Vikings outshot the BlueRaiders 18-4, with Cape's goalie Olivia Barrato making three saves, while Woodbridge's Emily-Lynn Adams stopped 15 Vikings tries.

In late action, the Cape girls traveled to Indian River Wednesday night, April 9, and lost to the Indians 5-0. The Vikings were limited to 2 shots on goal.

Brooke Beam lit it up for the Indians, scoring 3 goals to go along with one assist. Aline Guzman and Madison Hogsten also scored for the Indians.
