Cape Carousel offers multidiscipline learning

Fourth-eighth graders learn about natural world
April 22, 2014

More than 140 Cape Henlopen School District students in grades four through eight are enrolled in 13 courses offered during Session Three of the Cape Carousel Program. New to the Carousel Program this year are courses using the STEAM curriculum model – science, technology, engineering, art and math – integrating the creative process with science and technology using art projects tied to experimentation and exploration.

STEAM Wonder Lab, taught by local art therapist Jennifer August, has introduced students to the natural world through zany, safe, hands-on experiments and related art projects. Students create earth self-portraits, colored salt mosaic art and UV glow bugs; they are studying water density using rainbow colors and experiencing making electricity from saltwater, among other projects.

For more information on the program, call 302-644-7917 or go to www.teachers.cape.k12.de.us/~ccphome.
