The Second Annual Wine Tasting was held April 6 by the Walt Jones Memorial Project to benefit Sussex County Habitat for Humanity. The event was generously hosted by Bin 66 in Rehoboth.

Guests were invited to sample six different wines as well as appetizers donated by Cape Henlopen Oyster House, Arena’s and Frank & Louie’s Italian Specialties.! Jack Lingo Realty sponsored this event for the second year in a row.

The Walt Jones Memorial Project has evolved into a yearlong series of community fundraising efforts organized and supported by a group of dedicated volunteers in Sussex County. Last year, over $67,000 was raised to sponsor a Habitat home dedicated in memory of Walt Jones.

The Wine Tasting raised over $3,500 in support another Habitat home at Georgetown Point. This year’s home is being built with Veronica Perez, a mother of two who works with special needs children in a local school district.

She was accepted into the Habitat program in April 2013 after having heard about Habitat from a friend. “This opportunity to receive a Habitat home will bring comfort and a stable environment for my children,” Perez said when accepted into the program.

The Walt Jones Memorial Project is preparing for its next two events: A Wing It for Walt Jones Night Wednesday, May 14 and the Ninth Annual Walt Jones Memorial Golf Outing Friday, May 16.
