Milton Farmers Market first Fourth Friday set April 25

Open every Friday from 3 to 6 p.m.
April 18, 2014

The Milton Farmers Market brings its first Fourth Friday event to historic Milton Friday, April 25, to mark the official 2014 grand opening, with special Fourth Friday suppliers on hand.

Patrons in search of farm-fresh produce will find a huge selection under the T.S. Smith canopy at the market entrance. Despite the recent cold snap, farmer Charlie Smith is excited to bring baskets brimming with his fresh kale, brussels sprouts and leafy greens, including spinach, arugula and turnip greens. Asparagus and sugar snap peas will be available along with green beans, and he’ll bring in strawberries from out of the area.

Right next to T.S. Smith, market patrons will see Abbott’s Grill chef Kevin Reading getting creative with the market’s fresh veggies. He’ll be simmering a delicious asparagus crab soup and down-home Southern braised greens. Reading will also barbecue his trademark market offerings on the open grill, including strawberry chipotle chicken and BBQ pork tacos.

This Friday’s live music comes from 3CNorth, an acoustic duo out of south Delaware that promises to have something for everything.  Their selections cover the greats from the past, with tunes from Johnny Cash, Neil Young, Jimmy Buffett and even the Grateful Dead, plus their own songs as well.

Milton Farmers Market offers gift cards, T-shirts, sweat shirts and market totes, all emblazoned with the market's trademark logo. Stop by the market manager’s tent along Union Street to peruse the merchandise, and also to pick up a full-color availability chart that shows the peak growing weeks and months for all of Delmarva’s fruits and vegetables.

Look for fresh flowers and plants, as well as specialty gourmet items throughout the market grounds.

Open every Friday from 3 to 6 p.m., the Milton Farmers Market facilitates the shopping experience with free parking in the lot across the street.
