Carper highlights launch of online Veterans Employment Center

May 1, 2014

Sen. Tom Carper, a veteran as well as chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, highlighted the launch of a website that will provide veterans with critical information to help them find jobs.

The new tool is a part of first lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden’s Joining Forces Initiative. The tool connects service members and their families with employers and offers resources to help service members translate military skills into the civilian workforce.

The Veterans Employment Center offers service members and their spouses an integrated and simplified set of resources, including a resume builder and military skills translator, to help them connect with employers in both the public and private sectors. A joint effort by the Joining Forces initiative, the Office of Personnel Management, and the departments of Defense, Labor, and Education, the Veterans Employment Center is the first interagency tool that offers comprehensive, detailed career and training resources to service members and their families.
