Cape boys' lax puts the hurt on Smyrna 21-0

The Cape boys' lax team scored twice in the first 20 seconds and didn't look back as they overloaded the Smyrna scoreboard with 21 goals and didn't let the Eagles hit their twine during the April 25 game at Smyrna.

Blake Mann cranked in six goals and four assists in the contest while Luke Benson tallied five goals and three helpers in the Vikings' shutout. Thomas Ott scored twice, including the first in the opening 10 seconds of the contest.

Michael Hopkins, Todd Keen, Kyle Orton, Aaron Mattioni, Charlie Burton, Matthew Lally and James Ashby each scored once.

Hopkins assisted on two goals while Eric Stancofski and Justin Lopez each had one helper.

Cape went into halftime up 16-0 and scored twice in the third and three times in the fourth period.

Cape outshot the Eagles 44-10 while Cape goalies Grant Gillan and Chris Argo stopped four and two Smyrna shots, respectively. Smyrna goalie Shane Helm stopped 12 Vikings scoring attempts.
