Irish Eyes to hold fundraiser for Primeros Pasos May 5 in Milton

April 30, 2014

Irish Eyes Pub & Restaurant, 105 Union St. in Milton, will host a fundraiser Monday, May 5, during lunch and dinner. Primeros Pasos (First Steps) Early Childhood and Education Center will receive 10 percent of the proceeds.

Primeros Pasos, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Georgetown, meets the needs of a maximum of 20 children by providing year-round, affordable, academically excellent early education and care for its students, with a focus on school readiness and family involvement. Primeros Pasos staff and board are committed to ensuring that students are fully prepared to enter school, ready to succeed. The funds raised will go toward the capital project which will expand services to more children.

Primeros Pasos was given three classroom units from Polytech High School in Woodside, which were moved to the property on Savannah Road in Georgetown. These units will be renovated and joined together to form a 5,500-square-foot, state-of-the-art center.

The center will serve a maximum of 69 children from 6 weeks to 5 years of age and also provide before- and after-school care. The capital project’s total cost is $1,327,000, which includes all construction, furnishings, and development expenses. The project total also contains a $450,000 Sustainability Fund.

As of April 1, Primeros Pasos (First Steps) Early Childhood Center has received commitments of $1,089,000 toward the campaign goal, leaving an additional $238,000 to be raised.
