A simple, elegant bistro has just come to town. The Gate House of Lewes is now open for dinner. But will this intimate restaurant featuring Roasted Bone Marrow and Almond Crusted Duck Breast among other meaty entrees welcome the growing population of Plant-Based connoisseurs in southern Delaware? As I examined the outside menu hoping for flavorful vegetable, bean and whole grain creations, Chip Gates, the owner, stepped outside to introduce himself and all 3 of his chefs—sons Wilson and Taylor and wife Gretchen, each with impressive culinary experience. Our conversation turned to the menu and to my delight, the whole family has extensive knowledge and personal experience with preparation of Plant-Based options!
So join me in giving The Gate House of Lewes a warm welcome. Call a day or 2 ahead to make your reservation and Plant-Based (no added oil) requests. Let them know you want their most flavorful creations. Something tells me this team will not disappoint.
See you at The Gate House of Lewes tucked away on 109 West Market Street, formerly Café Azafran.
