Sons of American Legion support Girl Scouts OM team travel

May 10, 2014

The Sons of the American Legion Post 17 recently presented a check to Lewes Girl Scout Troop 1482 for their trip to the Odyssey of the Mind (OM) World Finals in Iowa in May. The team placed first in the Delaware State Tournament and will represent Delaware in the World Finals. Last year, the team competed against 53 other teams in its division and tied for ninth place.

OM is an international educational program for students from kindergarten through college that reinforces STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) learning through creative problem-solving, teamwork, healthy competition, and most importantly, fun.

Squadron Historian Sean Rowe and Chaplain Greg Kushner made the presentation. Shown are (l-r) Rowe; Rebecca Lowe, leader/coach; Hannah Lowe; Erin Gallagher; Mia Moshier; Phoebe Callard; and Kushner. Not pictured are scouts Aathena Malecdan and Lauren Thornberg.
