Seafood, meats, strawberries and flowers featured at May 9 Milton Farmers Market

The weekly farmers’ market this Friday in historic Milton will feature an expanded selection of flowering plants for Mother’s Day as well as special pricing on seafood and all-natural meats.

Little Wagon Produce will offer a huge assortment of mixed floral patio pots, hanging basket, and individual floral plants, as well as unique wrought iron garden accessories and display pieces.  Additionally, owner Becky Vanderwende promises to bring her local strawberries and asparagus to the market.

Over at the Alaska Wild tent, John Clucas will be happy to explain the health benefits of his wild-caught salmon and other cold water fish that he brings to the Milton Farmers Market. For starters, wild salmon are more flavorful than farmed salmon, with superior texture as well. This week Alaska Wild will offer wild-caught salmon, smoked salmon, halibut, Pacific rockfish, and Alaska cod, with special Mother’s Day pricing on the cod.  To place orders in advance, call 337-0719.

Anyone interested in all-natural meats will find a full selection at TA Farms. Their turkey, lamb, pork and beef come from animals raised on the farm without growth hormones or antibiotics. Each week TA Farms offers specials, and this week market patrons will enjoy sale prices on the quarter pound burgers, either beef or turkey.

The Milton Farmer’ Market brings live music every week to the market grounds, with seating available in front of the performance area. This week Matt Lafferty will bring his bluesy brand of roots rock, country, swing and Americana. Matt’s diverse repertoire of old and new is sure to include many favorites. Patrons are welcome to bring their take-away meals from Abbott’s Grill or Vintage Pasta, or a snack from the bakers or farmers’ stands, and soak in the sounds.

Open every Friday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., the Milton Farmers’ Market is held on Union Street across from the library, with ample free parking in the lot on Magnolia Street. Visitors will want to stop by all the farmers’ tents, bakers’ tents, and main course tents to stock up on fresh and wholesome selections for table, pantry and freezer. Additionally, look for specialty gourmet items throughout the market grounds, and enjoy the music!
