Edgar 'Ed' Egee Jr., loved his grandchildren

Edgar “Ed” G. Egee Jr., 90, of Ocean View, formerly of Royersford, Pa., passed away Monday, May 5, 2014, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes.

Ed was born in Abington, Pa., Sept. 13, 1923, son of the late Edgar G. and Catherine (McGill) Egee Sr. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. Ed retired in 1987 from Cann & Saul Steel Company in Royersford.

Ed was a lifetime member of the Mason Dixon VFW Post 7236 in Ocean View and a member of Mariner’s Bethel United Methodist Church in Ocean View. Ed enjoyed boating and loved being around his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Wayne Egee in 2005. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Doris M. (Green) Egee; a daughter, Jeanne Lovelace and her husband David of Millsboro; a daughter-in-law, Polly Egee; three grandchildren, Beth Morgan and her husband Timothy of Virginia, Dawn Saxon and her husband Mark of Boyertown, Pa., and Gail Porter and her husband Gary of Pottstown, Pa.; and six great-grandchildren, Timothy Morgan II and Quinn Morgan, Corbin and Ethan Saxon and Shelby and Ella Porter.

Services and burial will be held privately at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Ed’s name to Alzheimer’s Association of Sussex County, PO Box 625, Georgetown, DE 19947, or Mariner’s Bethel United Methodist Church, 81 Central Ave., Ocean View, DE 19970.
