Pure Imagination takes the stage at Clear Space this summer

May 15, 2014

The Clear Space Theatre Company recently announced the return of its Musical Theatre Summer Intensive season for the 10th consecutive year with five separate weeklong camps held at the Clear Space Theatre in downtown Rehoboth Beach.

Mirroring the rehearsal and production process of Clear Space’s own summer repertory season, students rehearse, create and perform a condensed version of a popular Broadway musical in just one week. The Clear Space faculty guides students through instruction in acting, dance and vocal technique, as well as group rehearsals.

Clear Space offers the following Musical Theatre camps: Grades 1-3: "The Jungle Book" - July 7-11; Grades 4-6: "Willy Wonka" - July 14-18; Grades 7-12: "Grease" - July 28-Aug. 1; All Grades (by audition or recommendation): "Mamma Mia" - Aug. 4-8; and the Acting Summer Intensive (Grades 1-12) "James and the Giant Peach" - July 21-25. All five camps end with two performances on the final day at 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

“The five weeks of Summer Intensives have infinite rewards for all involved -from the campers to the faculty,” said Artistic Director Doug Yetter. “The pride the students take in their accomplishments over the week is truly remarkable. Because of the amount of information students have to absorb, you can literally watch the transformation in their work on an hourly basis.”

Tuition for each camp is $325 and includes all instruction, materials, Camp T-shirt, and one student ticket to a CSTC Summer Repertory evening performance. Scholarships are available for talented students with financial need. Registration is limited to 40 students per camp and early registration is advised as the camps tend to fill up quickly.
