Bid on brown bags and support local charities May 18 in Rehoboth

May 13, 2014

Do you have a sense of adventure? What is in the brown bags? Bid on the contents of dozens of brown bags, sight unseen, and find out.

For months, the Rehoboth VFW Post 7447 Ladies Auxiliary members have been collecting prizes from local businesses as well as its membership. The contents of the brown bags could be gift cards or gift certificates, household items, jewelry, almost anything, even cash.

Ed Schaefer, president of the Men's Auxiliary, will serve as auctioneer. He'll provide hints of what may be inside, but a spirit of adventure by the bidders and some friendly competition will be sure to bring an afternoon filled with lots of laughs and fun.

The money raised will be used by the Ladies Auxiliary for projects including scholarships, providing personal care items for veterans in local nursing homes, helping the Families of the Fallen, providing assistance to local schools, and supporting active-duty military, veterans, and their families.

Come to the brown bag auction at 2 p.m., Sunday, May 18, at the Rehoboth VFW at 101 State Road, Rehoboth Beach. Refreshments will be available. For questions, call the post at 302-227-3469 or Barbara McGowan at 302-645-7689.
