Cape boys lacrosse fights off fog, defeats Tower Hill 15-9

May 12, 2014

The shoreline fog rolled in and so did the Vikings' goals as the Cape boys' lacrosse team defeated Tower Hill 15-9 on Friends of 33 night at Legends Stadium. The night was to honor former player Mikey Saez, who was tragically lost in a car accident June 5, 2013.

Luke Benson scored five goals, while Mike Hopkins and Justin Lopez added three. Todd Keen cranked two goals home, and Aaron Mattioni and Thomas Ott each had one.  Benson added three helpers and Blake Mann had one assist.

The Vikings outshot the Hillers 43-25 on the night. Cape goalie Grant Gillan made 12 stops in the Vikings' cage.

At halftime, Eduardo Saez Jr., Mikey's son, was honored with the Cape Henlopen Friends of 33 Hero Award.
