Delmarva Christian High hosts jazz party

May 18, 2014

Delmarva Christian High School English teacher Kelley Ridley and her junior English class celebrated the end of their reading of The Great Gatsby by immersing themselves in the 1920s and hosting a Jazz Party "Gatsby" style.

The class studied various elements of the 1920s from the jazzy sounds to the Harlem Renaissance, from baseball to Prohibition, from women's suffrage to the Charleston dance craze. All these elements were reinvented, included a jazz number performance from the students, for today's two-hour party. Those who attended exclaimed, "It was the bee's knees!"
