Dewey Scooter Nation rides for Epworth Skate Park

May 23, 2014

Dewey Beach Scooter Nation held its annual charity ride April 21. This year they named the ride Scootin’ to the Skate Park. All the money raised went directly to Epworth Skate Project, a group that is raising funds to build a concrete skate park on the grounds of Epworth United Methodist Church on Holland Glade Road in Rehoboth.

The ride went from Woody's Dewey Beach Grill to the skate park area at Epworth and ended at Hammerheads in Dewey Beach. A total of $900 was raised in donations from the 33 riders and sponsors. Sponsors included Rockin Roadie Paint Co., Dew-Me Beach, Beach Ride Taxi, Hammerheads, Woody's Dewey Beach Grill, and Eric Blondin of State Farm Insurance and Financial Services.

The Dewey Beach Scooter Nation, an open group that all are welcome to join, was started seven years ago by Ryan Harvey. For more information check out Dewey Beach Scooter Nation on Facebook or go to www.eumcrb.org/sk8.
