Mildred C. Coleman, Mellon Bank retiree

Mildred C. Coleman, 86, of Seaford, passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at her residence. She was born April 23, 1928, in Wilmington, daughter of the late Francis E. and Elizabeth M. Carney.

For 10 years she lived in Upper Darby, Pa., then returned to the Wilmington area in 1950, when she married her husband, Billy Coleman. Mildred and Billy would relocate to Seaford in 1989 where they would begin the process of retirement. Mildred continued to work for Mellon Bank until her retirement in 1991.

She was a woman who always put family first, and enjoyed the company of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mildred was an avid reader, ensuring she stayed current on politics and current events, both locally and nationally.

Mildred was preceded in death by her loving husband, Billy in 2006; and her sister, Virginia Dunn in 1993. She is survived by her two sons: Matthew Coleman and his wife Karen of Birmingham, Ala. and W. Brett Coleman and his companion Priscilla Adams of Bridgeville; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one brother, James Carney and his wife Kim of Flagler Beach, Fla.

All services will be private. Arrangements by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.
