Atlantic U15 girls' lacrosse falls to Beach 7-6 in championship

May 24, 2014

In early March, 29 seventh- and eighth-grade girls picked up lacrosse sticks and began to run thorugh the snow and mud at Hudson Fields.

A couple teams were formed, and March 22 the Atlantic U15 girls knocked off rival Beach Lacrosse to open the season.  Three weeks later, they took their show to Salisbury, Md., to play last season’s champions.  By midafternoon, Atlantic was 3-0.  The team traveled to Easton, Md., May 3 to face archrival Talbot County, where there is always a game and a little something extra.  A handful of yellow cards and a game ejection later, Atlantic girls were celebrating a double-overtime victory.

The girls put their 7-0 regular season record on the line May 19 in their quest for a perfect season.  The ESYLA Championship found first-place Atlantic matched once again against Beach Lacrosse.  After 60 minutes of a hard-fought, back-and-forth battle, heartache rained down on the Atlantic girls as they fell 7-6 in a terrific championship game.

The combined season record of both teams was an outstanding 13-2.
