Gillis Gilkerson welcomes Matt Esham and Jason Rudd to project management team

General contracting and construction management firm Gillis Gilkerson has announced the addition of project managers Matt Esham and Jason Rudd to the company in the first quarter of 2014.

As project managers, Esham and Rudd are responsible for estimating, business development and overall project management of new and current construction projects. Both have experience in construction planning, management and design.

“At the base of every project, from renovating a small office to building a large hotel, is a construction project manager,” said Dwight Miller, president of Gillis Gilkerson. “We look for professionals with wide-ranging experience, qualifications and a healthy portfolio. But more importantly, the role of project manager requires individuals who are devoted to customer satisfaction, schedule and budget on every project from beginning to end. We found this quality in both Mr. Esham and Mr. Rudd.”

Esham brings experience in pre-construction services, feasibility analysis, budget oversight, bid proposal, cost estimating/control, architect and engineer interface and total quality management. Esham graduated from University of Maryland-Eastern Shore in 1993 with a bachelor of science degree in construction management and a minor in engineering technology.  Prior to 1993 he earned his associate's in arts degree in computer-aided drafting and design in architecture and engineering from Catonsville Community College.

Esham’s work experience includes project management for Willow Construction, Mervin L. Blades & Son Inc., Perdue Farms, and Davis Bowen and Friedel. His recent portfolio includes over a dozen new construction projects including Ron Jon Surf Shop, Ocean City Fire Station 4, Dolle’s Candy Land and 67th Street Town Center in Ocean City, Md.; the addition to the new Fire Training Center in Accomack County, Va; and Cadista Pharmaceuticals' 2014 facility expansion in Salisbury, Md.

Esham is an associate member of The American Institute of Architects, Certified Building Inspector and Plans Review. He is preparing to take the LEED Green Associate Examination.

Rudd graduated from University of Maryland-Eastern Shore in 2005 with a bachelor of science degree in construction management. He has over 15 years of experience in construction planning, estimating and job costing, coordinating field activities with design changes and scheduling and site quality assurance.

Rudd is certified as a National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies Level 1 geotechnical engineer and lab engineer; Washington Area Council of Engineering Laboratories Level 1 Foundation, Concrete and Soils Inspector; Maryland Department of the Environment Green Card Certified; and 30-hour Occupational Safety and Health Administration Trained.

Rudd’s work experience includes renovation, roofing, design, inspection and new construction across Delaware and Maryland. His project list includes new construction of additions for Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Md.; design and inspections for B.J. Wholesale in Millsboro; and design and inspections for 10 Rite Aid stores across Delmarva.
