Film festival part of community's fabric

May 30, 2014

I have had the good fortune to be able to attend the Rehoboth Beach Independent Film Festival every year since its inception.

It has brought a cultural and economic boost to our community like no other event. Films are shown that stimulate and often inspire. I have recommended this event to friends from Washington, Baltimore, and Philadelphia. It is now on their calendars and they attend every year.

This stimulates our economy by bringing business to our restaurants, shops and hotels. Several of my friends have bought second homes here after they discovered our very special community.

We all owe a big thank you to the Derrickson family for providing a venue for the festival which has become part of the fabric of our community. My hope is that this very civic minded family will continue to provide space for our beloved film festival in the years to come.
