The Upper Crust at 7 East Market St. in Georgetown will exhibit artist Ellen Serafini starting Monday, June 2. A Meet the Artist reception will take place from 12:30 to 2 p.m., Thursday, June 19. Light refreshments will be served. Serafini will also be one of the plein air artists at the 24th annual Lewes Garden Tour, painting one of the gardens. The exhibit will go until the end of June.

Serafini's art interest started as a freshman in high school when a group of girls got together and painted on Friday nights. Her major in college was pre-med, and there was little time for art. Serafini then married and painted with the Sanski Studio and Perkens Center, both of which are in New Jersey.

After retiring and moving to Delaware, Serafini has had more time to devote to her painting, has joined the Cape Artists Gallery in Lewes and is a member of the Millsboro Art League.

The Upper Crust serves made-from-scratch baked goods, fair trade organic coffee, breakfast and lunch in a casual setting. Part of The Upper Crust’s commitment to the community is to offer a gallery space to local artists who might not otherwise have an opportunity to show their works.
