Christian and Leon Phillips heard a strange sound while playing at the tot lot at Silver Lake in Rehoboth Beach May 26. Following the sounds, they discovered an orphan river otter.
After hours of watching for the mother to reappear, they contacted Bob Hughes, a volunteer wildlife rehabilitator for Delaware Council for Wildlife Rehabilitators and Educators. He retrieved the baby and took it to his home, where he said he will raise it and release it back into the wild.
