Many charities to benefit
June 5, 2014

Dogfish Head Brewery in Milton will play host to 20 restaurant teams from around the state as they square off in the Delaware Restaurant Association’s Fifth Annual Beer, Bocce and BBQ Tournament to be held from 3 to 7 p.m., Monday, June 9.

Costumed teams made up of local restaurant staff and state legislators will be playing for the right to display the coveted Bocce Cup in their bar or restaurant for the upcoming year as well as $1,000 to be donated to the restaurant’s charity of choice.

Carrie Leishman, DRA president & CEO, said,  “It is exciting to bring together the restaurant community, charities and local elected officials in an evening of casual competition. Restaurants are so integral to the success of local communities and give back in so many ways to many different charities and organizations.  This is a unique competition that links all of us.”

The event will include fine food and drink donated by Dogfish Head Brewery, Abbott’s Grill, Bethany Blues, Kid Shelleens, The University of Delaware Creamer, and Striper Bites.  Live music will be performed by Jason Beale and the Dystractions.

The Children’s Beach House, Food Bank of Delaware, Miracle for Molly, Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition and The Center for Inland Bays are just a few of the charities that teams are playing for.

Tickets to the public are available for $25 and can be purchased by calling the DRA at 302-738-2545.
