Community must rally around film fest

June 6, 2014

We have recently become aware that Midway Theaters has cut back the number of theaters they will make available to the Rehoboth Beach Film Festival for screening their 2014 festival films. In addition, Midway has decided not to lease any space to the festival in 2015.

We have attended this festival every year since 2000 and enjoy it very much. It has become an annual vacation for us and we stay over in local motels at least three or four nights, eat all our food here and spend time shopping both in town and in the outlets.

We have seen the festival grow each year with a very large percentage of the film screenings sold out. We are having trouble understanding why such a successful event would result in an action that makes it more difficult and less desirable to attend. We urge the local community, especially those who might be adversely affected by these changes, to speak up.
