Gillan appointed director of communication and planning at Del Tech Owens

Christine Gillan was appointed to the position of director of communication and planning at Delaware Tech Owens effective June 2.

Gillan joined the college in 2011 as public relations manager in the Office of the President. She most recently served as public relations manager at the Owens Campus. Prior to her career at Delaware Tech, Gillan owned a consulting business as an organizational communication skills trainer. She also served part-time as a special projects coordinator in Gov. Ruth Minner's office and worked in public relations for the Delaware Department of Transportation for 10 years.

Gillan has served on a variety of campus committees including the annual fall fashion show; Starry, Starry Night gala; Women's Day Celebration; and for special events such as graduation, open house and new student orientation. She most recently co-chaired the college's Employee Recognition event. Her experience in public relations and event planning will be assets to her in this new position.

Gillan has a bachelor's degree in communication from the University of Delaware and a master's degree in business administration from Wilmington University.

In her new role Gillan will provide administrative oversight of several key areas at the Owens Campus including planning, accreditation, public relations, marketing, alumni affairs and events.
