Ruth Elizabeth Dailey, very style-conscious

June 9, 2014

Ruth Elizabeth Dailey of Milton died Saturday, June 7, 2014. She was born to Arthur P. and Bertha J. Thomas, Oct. 15, 1922, in Cleveland, Ohio.  She was the loving mother to Ronald Arthur, Jeffrey Alan, Scott Robert, Nancy Lee (Cox) and Lori Ruth.

Ruth is survived by her five children and son-in-law Gary Cox and daughters-in-law Kathy and LeeAnn, Ronald's and Scott's respective spouses.  Ruth is also survived by grandchildren Ronald Huffman Dailey and Virginia Elizabeth and Vivian Setsuko Cox.

Ruth was wife to Theodore "Ted" Charles Dailey, a Cleveland boy who spied Ruth at a Valentine's party and with much snow on the ground, and after just a little bit of flirting, sped home to Momma and declared, "I met the girl I'm going to marry!"  Theirs was 64 years before his 2006 passing.

Ruth and Ted made a honeymoon of his various station assignments in World War II as a major in the Army Air Corps.  Their travels were many throughout their lifetime together, and with adventuresome moves to homes in Texas, Virginia, Florida and North Carolina, and for Ruth, her final home with son Jeffrey and daughter Lori in Milton.  Ruth drove ably until Fall, 2013, and enjoyed her many years of work in major department stores, retiring at 83.  Always style-conscious and expert at home decor, Ruth always looked lovely in her beautiful homes and wherever she traveled.

Internment will be with beloved husband Ted in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va.  Donations may be directed in Ruth's memory to Easter Seals, The Adult Program, 22317 DuPont Blvd., Georgetown, DE 19947.

Arrangements handled by Short Funeral Services, Milton.
