Giant Food sends hunger packing in Millville

June 13, 2014

Giant Food and the Food Bank of Delaware kicked off Memorial Day weekend with a Send Hunger Packing food drive at the Millville Giant Food. To help stock food pantries during the summer months, customers were invited to purchase items for the food bank during their visits to any of Giant’s six Delaware stores over Memorial Day weekend.

In addition to collecting much-needed food for the Food Bank of Delaware’s network of hunger-relief partners, the food drive also raised awareness of the problem of summertime hunger. During the school year, families can count on free or reduced-price lunches for their children, but they are stretched in the summer to put food on the table.
