Printmakers highlighted in June 28 open studio tour at The Studios on Walnut

June 16, 2014

The printmakers of The Studios on Walnut in Milton invite the public to a behind-the-scenes sneak preview of the soon-to-open gallery and artist studios from 5 to 7 p.m., Saturday, June 28, at 310 Walnut St. Light refreshments will be served.

Toby Jo Vandiver's hand-pressed block prints and Mary Ellen Daly's colorful monotypes will be on display. Both artists bring a creative, contemporary approach to their work.

The printmaking studio is equipped with a small etching press alongside Daly’s unique platen 30-ton hydraulic press. Daly explains that the one-of-a-kind hydraulic press allows for embossing, application of extreme color, viscosity, and texture not possible with traditional equipment.

Vandiver said, "Mary Ellen and I are so excited about the new space, and we can't wait to show the community what we've been working on."

Both artists have previously exhibited together at the Rehoboth Art League, the Angelluci Gallery in Milford and The Kitchen in Milton.
