Browseabout to host signing party for 'The Beach House' June 28

June 19, 2014

Summer is arriving, and what better way to celebrate than to pick up a great beach read? A perfect place to start is with "The Beach House," a book of 23 short, entertaining stories that all take place in and around Rehoboth.  Authors of stories in the book will gather at 3 p.m., Saturday, June 28, to celebrate with a summer signing party at Browseabout Books, 133 Rehoboth Ave. in Rehoboth. The festivities will include music, giveaways, refreshments and book signings. The event is free and the public is invited.

The stories, written by some of the area’s best writers, were chosen by a panel of judges during last year’s Rehoboth Beach Reads Short Story Contest. Places mentioned in the book include the Children’s Beach House in Lewes, the Rehoboth Beach Museum, Dolle’s, Cape Henlopen, and many of the streets and neighborhoods in Rehoboth.

"The Beach House" has received national recognition, recently winning a first-prize award from the National Federation of Press Women. The book had previously received a first place in the Delaware Press Association Communications Contest.

From light romps featuring jilted brides, NASCAR drivers, and flapper-era ghosts to cherished memories of Boardwalk custard stands, outside showers, and summer romance, "The Beach House" has something for everyone. “It’s a truly unique take on Rehoboth Beach,” says Browseabout Books General Manager Susan McAnelly. “We've never had a book quite like this in our store.” Sales of the book have been brisk, even before summer set in.

Copies of the book are available now and can also be shipped. For more information, call Browseabout at 302-226-2665.
