Nage Food and Wine Festival raises $6,000 for local charities

Rehoboth Art League and Children's Beach House to benefit
June 16, 2014

Nage hosted its sold-out, sixth annual food and wine festival April 27 with proceeds going to both the Rehoboth Art League and the Children’s Beach House. Echelon Custom Homes & Interiors was the presenting sponsor.

The event this year was larger than it has been in the past with almost double the attendees. The event featured live music by jazz musician Bruce Anthony; over 40 interesting wines displayed by region; limited, high-end silent auction items; and food pairings to accentuate the various regions of the wines. Bin 66 was on hand to take orders on the tasted wines, and 10 percent of all orders placed through Bin 66 were also donated back to the charities.

The Nage team made use of sister restaurant Root Gourmet, right next door to Nage, for additional features. Inside Root Gourmet, the Rehoboth Art League had various works on display; there were Italian and Spanish wines to taste, and Paul Cullen hosted a cooking demo with recipes from his new book.

The culinary team took everything a step further this year by pairing food with the various wines. Food items were well thought out and on display for pairing with the wine from with each region. Waitstaff passed trays of hors d’oeuvres, noting for customers what wines they should drink for the perfect combination.

General Manager Mark Harrison says, “We currently host two events a year; this one and our cocktail party. These events are a great way for us to interact with our clients in a different way, try new food items, and engage over great wines. Supporting two great causes is just the icing on the cake.”

Nage owner Josh Grapski states, “This is one of my favorite events of the year. These are two wonderful, local charities, and I am grateful for the chance to give back to the community in this way. It was gratifying to raise this amount of money on their behalf, and I can’t wait to grow the event and raise even more next year.”

Nage Restaurant is at 19730 Coastal Highway, Rehoboth Beach. Nage is open seven nights a week for dinner, Sunday brunch, and lunch Tuesday through Saturday.
